Teaching Method

JAD-IS offers the Cambridge Primary and HMH American Curricula for the core subjects (English , Math, and Science) along with the Saudi Curriculum for the following subjects (Arabic and Islamic).

 Cambridge Primary Curriculum:

By offering Cambridge Primary, JADIS provides a broad and balanced education for our learners, helping them to thrive throughout their schooling, work and life. With core subjects including English, mathematics and science, JADIS teachers offer plenty of opportunities to develop creativity, expression and wellbeing in a variety of ways.
The curriculum is flexible, so we can shape it around how we want our students to learn. Subjects can be offered in any combination and adapted to suit your context, culture and school ethos. We offer Cambridge Primary alongside the Saudi curriculum for subjects (Arabic and Islamic).

 Check achievement: Cambridge Checkpoint

Cambridge Primary Checkpoint monitors individual and group performance at the end of the primary program. These external tests are marked by Cambridge International to give our students extra confidence in the feedback they receive and share with parents.
• See how learners are performing against an international benchmark, and in comparison to the rest of their class.
• Easily monitor group and individual performance.
• JAD-IS receive a diagnostic feedback report and learners receive a Statement of achievement.
• Two exam series are available: May or October.
• Use at the end of the Cambridge Primary program (Grade 6).

 The American Curriculum (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt-HMH):

The American Curriculum follows the Common Core State Standards that award students with a high school Diploma or Advance High School Diploma. The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) Initiative is a state-led effort coordinated by the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). These standards define the knowledge and skills students should have within their K-12 education careers so that they will graduate high school able to succeed in entry-level, credit-bearing academic college courses and in workforce training programs. The standards:
- Are aligned with college and work expectations;
- Are clear, understandable and consistent;
- Include rigorous content and application of knowledge through high-order skills;
- Build upon strengths and lessons of current state standards;
- Are informed by other top performing countries, so that all students are prepared to succeed in our global economy and society; and
- Are evidence-based."
• The (CCSS) prepares the students with the most important knowledge and skills to attain higher education or careers. Using a credit system, students are given a wide foundation in General Education and are taught a broad range of subjects including Math ( Algebra I and II, Geometry I and II, Precalculus, Calculus), English (Literature, Reading , Vocabulary, Grammar, Spelling, Phonics, Speaking & Listening Writing), Social Studies, ICT, French, Arabic, Islamic Studies, Science, World History, KSA History, Art and P.E.
• The school prepares the Kindergarten and Grades students for MAP Standardized Test. MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) are achievement tests delivered by computer to students. There are two tests: Reading and Math. With MAP, the test questions are displayed on the computer screen and students will select an answer using the mouse or the keyboard. The difficulty of the test will adjust to their performance. That will best help us know how to help students and what we should be working on to improve the most. Tests are aligned to the American state and district curricula!
• Standardized Tests such as Cognia assessments are offered on the First, Second, and Third Semester at the school. ACT 1 & ACT 2 examinations are held at the school for Grades 10. It should be noted that JAD-IS is an official ACT Center. We also offer grades 9-12 with weekly ACT/AP course to be well-prepared for the ACT/AP examinations.
• In JAD-IS both teachers and students have benefited from various educational technologies, teachers have learned how to integrate technology in their classrooms and students are getting more interested in learning with technology. The use of technology in education has removed educational boundaries, both students and teachers can collaborate in real time using advanced educational technologies such as interactive smart boards and tablets.
• They can also be given online homework and assignments on HMH Online Website by using HMH accounts or by reading online e-books on our second to none electronic library (e-library) on our dashboard.
• HMH and Cambridge curricula have powerful virtual applications containing programs and activities for teachers, administrators, and students. They both act as a single workplace for teaching and learning.
Teachers can manage online classes, and adding students, read online teacher and student editions of text books, assemble and assign tests, assign activities to either entire classes or selected students, view various reports regarding test scores, mastery requirements, and individual student statistics. Students can read online text books, take tests online, complete remediation activities. Administrators can manage users, support teachers by uploading student information, view student performance reports.
JADIS has been distinguished by not only educating students in various academic subjects, but also in enriching their knowledge with our Religion and ethics. JADIS students have compulsory subjects in any of the two curricula and they are: Qur’an, Islamic Studies in Arabic (ISA), and KSA History. We should always remember what our prophet (PBUH) said:
" Whoever reads the Qur’an before becoming Baaligh, has indeed been given wisdom as a child. The Holy Book is the best intellectual treasure a student can have."
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
"The Qur’an is a wealth with which there is no poverty, and without which there is no wealth."
On the other hand not caring to read and study the Qur’an is a great loss. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
"Surely the person in whose heart lacks the trace of the Qur’an is like a ruined house."
Students go beyond the textbooks to study complex topics based on real-world issues, such as Economics, Islamic History, and Effects of Chemicals on animals, analyzing information from multiple sources, including the Internet and interviews with experts.
Project-based classwork is more demanding than traditional book-based instruction, where students may just memorize facts from a single source. Instead, students utilize original documents and data, mastering principles covered in traditional courses but learning them in more meaningful ways. Projects can last weeks; multiple projects can cover entire courses. Student work is presented to audiences beyond the teacher, including parents and community groups.
